Tuesdays on the Tube: Pittsburgh and Prokofiev

With a combination of power and precision, here a video that demonstrates the mighty brass section of the Pittsburgh Symphony Orchestra. It is a fitting performance, led by Lorin Maazel. that exposes Murray Crewe on bass trombone who passed away a few days ago. This recording of Prokofiev’s 5th Symphony was performed by the PSO in 1994 at the Musikfest Bremen.

Listen to the whole thing (turn the volume up) and be mesmerized by the extraordinary sound of one of the great giants of the bass trombone.
