Romero Wins MET Principal Trombone Audition
As one of the busiest orchestras in the world, the MET Orchestra employs multiple brass players for each section to accommodate the many, demanding operas that are staged on a regular basis. The newest member to join this fabulous orchestra is John Romero as Co-Principal Trombone.
John is currently the Principal Trombone of the Fort Worth Symphony Orchestra and expects to join the MET in September 2018. A native Texan, Romero received his music degrees at Baylor University and Rice University. His primary teachers include Brent Phillips and Allen Barnhill.
On a personal note: I remember hearing John perform at an American Trombone Workshop with the Baylor Trombone Quartet, and knew there was something special about him and his sound. Congratulations John on this great accomplishment.
