Paulo Fresu at DC JazzFest

Paulo Fresu is an Italian trumpeter-flugelhornist and composer who made his auspicious debut in 1985 with the release of his first album Ostinato. In addition to composing music for theater, dance, film, and television, he has taught at the Siena Jazz National Seminars, as well as university jazz courses in Terni and as director of Nuoro Jazz Seminars in Nuoro, Italy.  In addition to his own recordings he has toured with such artists as NEA Jazz Master Carla Bley, and the kinetic Cuban pianist Omar Sosa.  In 2015 Fresu was awarded an honorary doctorate of music from Berklee College of Music.
