New Website Pays Tribute to Trombone Professor Neill Humfeld
Dr. Neill H. Humfeld, a legend in the trombone community, taught at East Texas State University from 1958 to 1991. His contributions to trombone and pedagogy are so significant that the ITA has named one of its top awards, the Neill Humfeld Award for Excellence in Trombone Teaching, in his honor.
Chris Clark, a student of Humfeld, has curated a website dedicated to his memory, informing a new generation of trombonists about Humfeld’s teachings. This project includes anecdotes and about learning under the legendary professor, hearing solo recordings, and more. Clark is currently transferring and remastering about 30 1/4″ tape reels of his old recital recordings and plans to include most of these recordings on the website.
