Ben McIlwain Releases Debut Solo Trombone Album
Trombonist Ben McIlwain’s solo debut album, indefatigable has dropped! The album includes recordings of the following works for trombone that he commissioned – Alan Theisen’s Symphony No. 2 for Clarinet, Trombone, and Piano; Joe Buono’s Elegy; James David Secure.Contain.Protect – Sonata for Trombone and Piano; Charles Ingram’s Sonatina; and Joshua Mize’s Galaxy Unknown. Collaborators include pianist, Ellen Elder, (on all pieces except for the Mize) and clarinetist, Jacqueline McIlwain, (on the Theisen). The recording engineer was Andy Gilstrap, producer Nick Laufer, mixing/mastering was done by TJ Tesh, and project manager Karen Cubides. Many of these recordings will be world premiere recordings.
