100 Essential Excerpts
Encore Music Publishers has long been known for their editing and updating of standard method books. One such example was the Arban’s Method Book for Trombone/Euphonium that was revamped by Joseph Alessi and Brian Bowman. Other etude books have also been renewed with editorial markings by professional artists.
Very recently, EMP has taken on the task of compiling a book series of the 100 most essential excerpts for brass instruments. The following instruments have been released so far:
Trombone – Megumi Kanda, Principal Trombone, Milwaukee Symphony Orchestra
Bass Trombone – Douglas Yeo, Bass Trombone (ret.), Boston Symphony Orchestra
Tuba – Wesley Jacobs, Tuba, Detroit Symphony Orchestra
These books are study guides for the instruments as they feature over 275 excerpts per book. For each instrument, there are corrected errors on the original parts, audition advice, and strategies to help with performance.
